Abstract

The aim of the study: to reveal structural changes of liver sinusoidal cells in patients with HIV/HCV coinfections. Material and methods. Structure of sinusoidal liver cells was studied in 14 patients with HIV/HCV coinfections by light and electron microscopy examination of liver tissue obtained from patients by liver biopsy. Results. Hepatic microcirculatory disturbances, structural changes in sinusoidal endothelial cells and Kupffer cells, activation of immune reactions in the liver, acceleration of fibrogenesis of various degree of expression were revealed in all patients with HIV/HCV coinfections.
