The concepts of the European Central Bank and the bank system of Eurozone are considered in the paper. The main directions and the purposes of functioning of the European Central Bank are defined. The most widespread instruments of the European Central Bank activity are researched (refinancing facilities), and also other and specific tools are separately examined.

В статье рассмотрены сущность понятий Европейского центрального банка и банковской системы Еврозоны. Отмечены основные направления и цели функционирования Европейского центрального банка. Отдельно исследованы наиболее распространенные инструменты работы Европейского центрального банка (инструменты рефинансирования), а также прочие и специфические инструменты.
