Abstract

The article investigates the causative factors of singlehood, divorce and success of marriage. The deep reasons for family disruption are incapability of true love or inability to build or keep it. Love is substituted for amorousness, egoistic (immature) love, and various forms of false or flawed love. Among frequent direct reasons there are increasing independence of women, loss of mutual understanding and mutual trust (as a consequence of adultery and abnormal jealousy), incorrect choice of a partner in life, incompatibility of characters or values. Singlehood is often predetermined by physical disability (group I), passive or negative attitude to marriage, revaluation of freedom and independence values, immoderate requirements to partners, consumer attitude to life, infertility, alcohol and drug abuse, hypersexuality and asexuality.
