Abstract

This article undertakes an analysis of textual construction of the Past in political discourse. It is contended that history has its linguistic/textual modality. The ways in which writing of the past is actualized in texts depends on national, political, ideological values of the author. Politisation of the past, creation of the image of the enemy may turn the national discourse into a nationalistic one. Linguistic interpretation covers publications of modern Ukraine historians about the Great Patriotic War of 1941—45.
