Abstract

The article assesses the prospects for the development of non-profit housing associations of citizens on the real estate market. The author expresses the viewpoint that housing cooperatives, acting as developers, could become a serious alternative to the traditional, more costly ways of solving the housing problem, especially for the category of citizens who due to their financial situation cannot either improve their living conditions or participate in government housing programs.
