Abstract

The article is devoted to the problems of impact of international actors and, above all, states and institutions of the European Union on the process of radical transformation in post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The author analyzes the difficulties faced by countries in the region before and after their accession into the EU. As a result, the author concludes that trends of development of the post-communist societies of Central and Eastern Europe, emerging in the fi rst decade of the XXI century, do not promise quick and easy solution of a number of diffi cult economic and political problems. However, the gloomy predictions are also unlikely to be justifi ed, because the scale of social and political transformation in these countries is so great that it’s too early to evaluate them.
