This article examines the main provisions of development of domestic market of marine insurance in the current economic conditions and factors of development of the world financial market that have direct influence on the further role of this insurance in Russia. In the course of the research, the topical issues concerning the Russia’s accession to the WTO and the possible consequences of this event for the sector of marine insurance were outlined, the strong and weak points of the membership of the Russian Federation at that stage were highlighted, as well as the issue concerning the safe operation of marine vessels in the light of further development of mutual marine insurance in Russia to protect the interests of the shipowners to the third parties was considered.

В статье рассматриваются основные положения развития отечественного рынка морского страхования в условиях современных экономических тенденций и факторов развития мирового финансового рынка, оказывающих непосредственное влияния на дальнейшую роль данного вида страхования в России. В ходе исследования были выделены актуальные вопросы, связанные со вступлением России в ВТО и его возможные последствия для сектора морского страхования, отмечены сильные и слабые стороны членства РФ на данном этапе, а также рассмотрен вопрос относительно безопасной эксплуатации судов в свете дальнейшего развития взаимного морского страхования в России для защиты интересов судовладельцев перед третьими лицами.
