This article was written to assess the regularities of publishing development in the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century on the example of Vyatka region. Time intervals of the development of the history of book printing are obtained, topics for study such as, books’ design, printing features, use in social and political life, portrait figures associated with book learning – are also identified. The role of the orthodox monasteries and the Old Believers’ communities with their book learning is shown, as well as the importance of the Vyatka cheap popular paintings and the first secular school the Slavo-Greek-Latin Academy of Lavrentii Gorka – and its library is stressed. The preconditions for printing are defined, together with its administrative and technical aspects. The magazine-book and newspaper trends of spreading the cultural information are revealed, as well as the influence of the press on the regional society and its dependence on the population sections.

В статье на примере Вятской губернии исследуются закономерности развития издательского дела в XIX – начале XX вв. Выделены временные этапы развития истории печатного дела, также выявлены темы для изучения такие, как книжность, художественное оформление, типографские особенности, использование в общественно-политической жизни, персоналии деятелей, связанных с книжностью. Показана роль православных монастырей, старообрядческих общин с их книжностью, а также значение вятских лубочных картин и первой светской школы – славяно-греко-латинской академии Лаврентия Горки – и ее библиотеки. Характеризуются предпосылки создания типографской деятельности, ее управленческая и техническая стороны, а также содержание. Выявлены журнально-книжное и газетное направления распространения культурной информации, роль прессы на региональное общество и ее зависимость от социальных слоев.
