Abstract

The article treats the topical nature of the studies concerned with ways of promoting the cognitive activities among the children and teenagers who do sailing, by implementing the problem-based learning methods. The ways for promoting the cognitive activities at young yachtsmen during sailing training sessions receive theoretical substantiation. The article presents the overview of the body of experimental work undertaken with a view to assess the efficacy of the established methods of problem-based learning and of the heuristic approach. The data collected during the experiment demonstrate the levels of independence in learning and the degree of positive attitude on the part of young yachtsmen, as well as the extent of their theoretical knowledge and mastery of practical skills.
