Taraxacum officinale Wigg

Taraxacum officinale Wigg

Abstract

Polysaccharides fractions PS-1 and PS-2 were isolated from the roots of the dandelion Taraxacum officinale Wigg by sequential extraction with water and an aqueous solution of ammonium oxalate and oxalic acid. Their yield dependence of the temperature was studied. The fractions at 100 °C obtained were investigated by complex of physicochemical methods. The main components of PS-1 fraction are fructans (and/or) glucan. Arabinose, xylose, galactose, glucose and mannose in a minor amount were detected in PS-1 fraction hydrolyzate. Glucose predominates and its amount was found to be more than 70 % of monosaccharides; galacturonic acid residues forms about 16 % by weight. The fraction was 9,4 % yield; it can be attributed to pectic polysaccharides containing 41,9 % of α-1,4-linked D-galactopyranosyluronic acid residuals by weight. Side chains formed with α-L-arabinofuranose and glucose, as well as xylose and galactose residues were detected in their composition.
