Abstract

The processes taking place in today’s culture, and particularly the literature, are viewed in light of com-munication theory. This allows to understand the greatest phenomena of the fiction literature abroad 20th21st centuries in a new way. Material is conceived by implementation of the intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and mass communication in the literature. The possible various types of communication with readers are taken into consideration. Communication practices, characteristic for subcultures (including the elite ones), mass literature, as well as middle literature are standing out and getting comprehended. Analysis of the relationship between the author and the addressee becomes the most principal. In the trivial artwork, it is not an individual who is tending to seek-for and capable of spiritual development, but the more or less typical recipient, which is powered by stereotypes and is not experiencing any discomfort at the same time. In the elite manifestations (especially in magazines’ poetry columns), the response is expected by the creator only from his own kind. Fiction literature represents the accessible message of the author to the democratic public that he would like to raise to a higher level of understanding of life and art. At the end the article, the communicative strategies of modern literature are demonstrated using genres.
