Abstract

The results of studies of quartz raw material in the Karelian-Kola region over the past 15 years are reported. The genetic types of quartz formations in the region have been systematized. Having carried out detailed mineralogical and handling studies of the most promising sources of quartz raw material we drew conclusions about the quality of the raw materials, and their potential applications. The priority tasks for further investigation of quartz raw materials in the region are defined. It is argued that the Karelian-Kola region is a promising quartziferous province for the mining industry.
