Abstract

The paper focuses on the problem of lexical-semantic universals in linguistics associated with questions of words' origin and comparative analysis of words of various languages. Determining etymologies of the lexical units related to the semantic field Universe, the common rules at phonetic, morphological and semantic levels (universals) were found out. The similar approach to the etymological analysis and also the use of the mythology and symbolic data allow to look deeper at the word and determine the rules of the development of earlier unknown meanings.
