Чаще всего нарушения цветового зрения имеют наследственный характер, реже бывают приобретенными при поражении сетчатки или зрительного нерва. Впервые наследственную цветоаномалию описал Джон Дальтон, данное заболевание впоследствии назвали дальтонизмом. При цветовой слепоте человек полностью или частично теряет способность различать некоторые хроматические цвета

The most common color vision disorders are hereditary, the minority of them are acquired through the pathology of retina or optic nerve. The first who described the hereditary anomaly of color vision was John Dalton, this disease was later called the color blindness. In color blindness people totally or partially lose the ability to differ some chromatic colors
