Abstract

The russian regions classification on the basis of the degree of preparedness for the transition to the post-industrial economy model is given in the present article. The author has analyzed the main theoretical concepts of the notion “region”, development factors of the regional space; special attention is paid to the approaches to distinguishing of integral geotories within the economic space. Using the natural and economic approach and with the help of the transport attraction method the author distinguished the regional space of the Western Arctic regions based on locality nickel production in the economic space of the country.
