Abstract

This article describes the issue of ambiguous interpretation of the term "process efficiency". This indicator is one of the baseline characteristics of organization’s processes according to ISO. The term "efficiency" used in the English version of ISO 9000 standard appears to have no adequate translation into Russian. Absence of generally accepted view on the meaning of the process efficiency indicator leads to the impossibility of using it for process monitoring and management. This article specifies the term "process efficiency". It studies main disadvantages of methods to calculate this indicator that are suggested to be used nowadays. An approach to the "process efficiency" indicator calculation has been developed and theoretically justified taking into account ISO standards´ requirements. The suggested method of calculation allows calculating the indicator that can unambiguously describe any process in the organization and its change of state in the course of time.
