Abstract

The presented article considers the problems of ethnic and cultural cooperation as a mechanism to integrate the needs of people and society as a whole. In this regard, there is a need of philosophical understanding of the category of «need». This paper presents a brief analysis of various approaches to the interpretation of the concept, are the most reasoned classification of the needs. One of the classification of species recognized ethnic needs, which act in two ways individual ethnic and social ethnic needs. The fundamental human need is considered an ethnic need for ethnicity, for ethnic identity. The basic social need advocates the need for national unity for the reproduction of their ethnic existence and ethnic consciousness. The needs of indigenous peoples and ethnic communities have the different ethno-cultural potential, but together they form the substantial basis of needs of the Russian people.
