Abstract

On the material of Russian proverbs the work analyses asyndetic complex sentences with the semantics of prediction in terms of availability of cause-and-effect relations between the parts. Considered is the correlation of characteristic features of verb forms in their parts. The article proves that cause-and-effect relations in proverbs can be found within the major conditional-effect relations. The conclusion states that the formation of cause-and-effect relations depends on the lexical structure, intonation pattern and other factors.
