Abstract

The article describes the procedure of developing and implementing the general inventory management strategy. The essence of the procedure is as follows: firstly, it is necessary to estimate the costs associated with stocks in the ratio with potential income; then, to present a classification by priority, or ABC classification, as a tool for segmenting products by groups to which similar methods of inventory management are applicable. And, finally, it is necessary to work out one’s own individual strategies of inventory management, differing by the set service standards, forecasting procedures, periodicity of control, logic of inventory management or control frequency of replenishment of stocks for all classification categories.
