Abstract

We propose four-pulse non-resonant laser excitation of the coherent molecular motions in liquid. The theoretical analysis of four-pulse excitation reveals the effective control of the vibrational response amplitudes in the optical Kerr effect signal with weak excitation of the rotational responses. As an example we use orthodichlorobenzene to calculate the parameters of the control scenarios for selective spectroscopy and to model the optical Kerr effect signals and the optical molecular responses.
