The article presents the review of historiography on the economic-cultural type of the Gorodetskaya culture representatives. The author analyzed the whole range of materials, which confirm the presence of one or another type of economy as well as domestic crafts among the Gorodetskaya tribes of the forest steppe Don. The author came to a conclusion that economy of the Don Gorodetskaya population combined hunting, fishery and early forms of agriculture and cattle breading.

В статье дан краткий историографический обзор решения вопроса о хозяйственно-культурном типе носителей городецкой культуры. Рассмотрен весь спектр материалов, свидетельствующих о присутствии у городецких племен лесостепного Дона того или иного типа хозяйства, а также домашних промыслов. Сделан вывод, что хозяйство городецкого населения Дона сочетало в себе как рыболовство и охоту, так и первоначальные формы земледелия и скотоводства.
