Abstract

The ecological situation in the Baikal Natural Area (Russia) and its effects on population health are studied. The article presents the results of comparative statistical research of the natural environment's state and population health in the Baikal region. The authors have analyzed the possibility to compensate the damage to population health caused by anthropogenic influence and prove the necessity to apply a tax mechanism of such compensation.
