Abstract

Professional divers working at shallow and medium depths (down to 60 m) and using compressed air for breathing were divided into four groups according to the total number of underwater hours ( 3 000). Erythrocyte count and haemoglobin concentration in blood of divers were lower than in the control, in groups 1 and 2, but not in groups 3 and 4. Compensative character of fluctuations of the red blood parameters in divers with different diving experience is discussed.
