Abstract

The syntax of Selkup is the least studied sphere of the language. The publication is aimed at describing specific features of the number agreement between the subject and the predicate in the simple two member sentence of the Selkup language. The principal parts of the Selkup two member sentence – the subject and the predicate – agree between each other in their forms, thus comprising the predicative agreement. The person and the number of the subject are expressed by the form of the predicate. In Selkup the agreement/coordination in number between the subject and the predicate varies depending on the subject expressed by a single word or by a phrase. The meaning of the subject may add to the variety as well as the presence/absence of the attribute to the subject.
