Abstract

Article considers prejudice, as a complex concept including following components: esoteric phobias (superstitions), personal fears (prejudices) and social phobias (biases), which neutralization forms the sphere of protective communication. Prototypical elements of prejudices and superstitions in the sphere of landscaping are floromorphic protective signs, nominating plants (garden trees (fruit trees and patrimonial trees), magic herbs, cultivated flowers, sacred trees and bushes) possessing high warding-off and protective potential defending the sphere of human habitat from negative influence of environment and magical phenomena. Besides the allocated protective signs, within protective communication of landscape design discourse there exists one more group of signs verbalizing religious prejudices connected with trees and shrubs like elder, aspen and hawthorn. Protective signs, actualizing protective function, are focused on neutralization of personal fears and phobias caused by the anxiety of negative influence of the environment on the development and formation of horticultural crops by following to the superstitions and prejudices found in folklore texts, ancient religious legends possessing high suggestive power.
