Abstract

Studied the age variability of the width of the dental arch of the upper jaw in the period from 8 to 21 years in patients with orthognathic bite. All material, according to the age of periodization, was divided into 3 groups: 8–12 years (n = 65), 13–16 years (n = 50), 17–21 years (n = 48). In diagnostic models of the maxilla was performed measuring the width of the dental arch of the canines, first and second premolars, first molars from the buccal and lingual surfaces. It is proved that the period from 8 to 16 years is critical for orthognathic bite, because in this age range increases the risk of narrowing of the dental arch of the upper jaw at the first premolars and molars. Identified dental arch widths (very small, small, medium, large, very large) at the level of the canines, premolars and molars and determined the frequency of their occurrence.
