Abstract

Professional deformation is an inevitable component of the professional activities of the employees of internal affairs bodies. Its development includes three levels. Professional deformation is not yet expressed clearly at the first level. There are certain quantitative and qualitative changes of individual personality characteristics on the middle level. The aggravation and the development of socially negative traits of the personality of the professional are observed on a deeper level. One of the forms of professional deformation of law enforcement officers can be a deviant behavior, such as illegal actions, alcohol or drug abuse, gambling addiction, suicidal behavior. An extreme form of professional deformation is a professional degradation, making the further service in the bodies of internal affairs impossible. The authors believe that, although it is impossible to completely avoid professional deformation, however, there are effective means to reduce its negative impact on the personality of the professional.
