В статье осуществлено теоретическое осмысление особенностей словообразовательной категории в ходе анализа исторических и современных представлений об этой языковой единице и её категориальном окружении категориях языковой системы и категориях мышления. Выявлена уникальность когнитивной, семантической и формальной структур словообразовательной категории; обосновано авторское видение некоторых её свойств.In this article, a theoretical interpretation of the peculiarities of a word-formation category is realized in the course of analysis of the historical and modern ideas about this language unit and its categorial environment the categories of a language system and the categories of thinking. The uniqueness of the cognitive, semantic and formal structures of a word-formation category is ascertained; the author's vision of some of its characteristics is proved.
