
This article demonstrates the features and causes of stylistic changes in the Soviet architecture 1910-1950s by the example of the city of Kharkov. Kharkov was one of the largest provincial centers of the Russian Empire and the first capital of Soviet Ukraine and in this period it became the platform for the implementation of pioneering architectural solutions. A lot of the citys remarkable buildings have survived and are shown as illustrations.
