Abstract

A detailed study of the compatibility of components is one of the most important conditions for the therapeutic effect and stability of soft medicinal forms. Emulsifiers are part of soft medicinal forms as auxiliary substances and provide a molecular dispersion and an optimum level of release of active substances. The influence of the emulsifier T-2 and TWEEN-80 on the melting point of conventional suppository bases comprising cocoa butter, beeswax and paraffin and the hydrophilic base from a mixture of polyethylene glycols of various degrees of polymerization are investigated. The presence of emulsifiers expands melting range, shifting the start point in the direction of lower temperatures, and the end point at higher temperatures. The phase diagram allow to an informed choice of the basics and the concentration of the emulsifier to meet the requirements of regulatory documents to the soft medicinal forms.
