Abstract

The article describes some basic communicative models worked out in the modern communication theory and demonstrates their strong and weak points. Due to certain peculiar features of virtual communication the previously created models could not properly reflect the process of communication over the Internet. A new model of the communicative process in the Internet-mediated communication is put forward in this article. It also defines the phenomenon of virtual linguistic identity and the ways of the virtual linguistic identity’s self-presentation.
