Abstract

Over the whole period of the institutional traps theory development, traps investigated by it used to become the focus of research in response to a particular socio-economic situation in the country. This way of research cannot be proactive, nor can it ensure comprehensive coverage of an object under investigation. This paper proves the necessity to move from the spontaneous practice of institutional trap exposure towards a goal-oriented trap-exposure strategy, which will make it possible to use the potential of this promising trend of socio-economic research to its full advantage. Classification of traps may be regarded as a tool of purposeful trap exposure. This paper addresses problems of institutional trap classification along with related problems of classification of institutions and general economic classification, and discusses various options of developed classifications of institutions and institutional traps.
