Abstract

Рассматриваются контекстно-семантические особенности модального глагола must как показателя выводного знания. Предлагается подробный обзор типичных коммуникативных ситуаций эпистемического употребления глагола, выведенных на базе исследованного корпуса примеров. Описываются формальные характеристики употребления must в данной функции.

The article deals with contextual and semantical peculiarities of the modal verb must as of a marker of logical conclusion. The author suggests a detailed survey of the typical communicative situations of the epistemic use of the verb, based on the set of examples. The formal characteristics of the use of must are described.
