Abstract

The article considers the ways "soul" linguoculturema functions in I.S.Shmelev’s works and defines basic semantic components of culturally marked units in the artistic discourse of the writer (the center of the inner self, repository of everything intimate, divinity, invisible spiritual body that exists separately from people after their death). The study presents the importance of "soul" linguoculturema in the artistic world image of I.S.Shmelev, which is determined by the penetration of Orthodoxy in all spheres of life of the Russian people. It is concluded that spirituality of the Russians, reinforced by Orthodoxy, is a priority in their moral motives of behavior and labor in comparison with material, economic, and political aspects of life.
