Abstract

To obtain the maximum number of female flowers in the hybrid seed production of zucchini hybrids Vilina F 1 and Lord F 1 the vegetating plants were treated twice with ethrel solution at a concentration of 200 mg L at the phase of 2 true leaves to prevent inter-sib crosses inside the female line from 10 to 14 days the period of the first 10-12 flowers’ formation. With natural pollination, the use of ethrel, the yield of hybrid seeds of zucchini was 1.1-1.2 times higher (12.5-15.0%) and field germination by 5.4-6.3% higher as compared to artificial pollination. The share of hybrid seed was 98% and they were suitable for commercial crops. The maximum effect on seed yields of maternal lines had ethrel concentration (43.9-50.8%). The influence of the factor “phase of plant development” made 22.6-24.6%. The contribution of the interaction effects of factors on seed yield variability was 14.5-18.8 %. The share of random factors accounted for at least 3.4-3.5%.
