Abstract

The interpretation of the idea of subjectivity in theology supposes an individual and personal attitude towards the divine truth. Such interpretation of subjectivity in Russian Orthodox thought is disclosed as the application of the subjective method to dogmatic theology. Makariy (Bulgakov) in his work "Orthodox-dogmatic theology" reveals the role of a subjective, human factor in the adoption of the divine truth. Makariy distinguishes two levels of subjectivity subjective-rational and subjective-volitional. He concentrates the attention on the problem of the application of mind in theology. The question about the relation between the dogmata and mind acquires an especial significance. The theologian determines the sphere where philosophy can participate in the interpretation of Christian dogmata.
