Abstract

In city emergency hospital №1 of Orenburg a complex examination and treatment of 74 patients with acute pancreatitis has been held. In all cases the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis was clinically verified and ultrasound investigation of abdominal organs was carried out. All the patients were treated in the surgical department. Along with medicines of basic treatment including infusion, detoxifying, spasmolytic, antibacterial, antienzyme, cytostatic therapies and symptomatic therapy, 37 patients received L-ornithineL-aspartate (HEPA-Merz), belonging to the group of hepatoprotectives. During and after treatment by L-ornithine-L-aspartate a comparative evaluation of clinical and biochemical data and results of number-connection test have been made. The results of the study show that L-ornithine-L-aspartate (HEPA-Merz) contributes to the normalization of biochemical parameters, reduces symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with acute pancreatitis. This proves the effectiveness of L-ornithine-L-aspartate (HEPAMerz), expediency and efficiency of its application in treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis.
