A method is proposed for estimation of electromechanical time constant of an electric drive with the use of mathematical analysis of physical processes in the drive starting mode. The method is based on a one-to-one correspondence between the time for which reaction of non-periodic component reaches its extremum, and time constants of the electric drive and its non-periodic component. A special device realizing the developed method for a DC electric drive is described.
