Abstract

The author discusses the issues of development of low-rise suburban residential area, the architectural and planning solutions for residential houses and the architect and the customer relationship. The author proposed a strategy of interactive decision-making on the arrangement of space in a residential house and a CAD system to implement it. The article provides a design system that has advantages over existing strategies in efficiency, targeted orientation and time of preparation of design documents, which allows for optimal designing low-rise buildings based on several factors (characteristics of the site, the total area of the building, proportions of the building, number of rooms, orientation of the main entrance to cardinal directions, comfort class, materials of walls and ceilings, style) and capable of obtaining economic benefit of 15 to 60 % at the design stage, depending on the type of structures.
