Abstract

This article deals with artistic devices of a documentary film implemented by Paul Greengrass in “Bloody Sunday” (2002) to form a particular view on historic events and origins of political and religious antagonism in Northern Ireland in the second half of the 20 th century. Historical events are reconstructed in the film by means of documentaries (docudrama). Special attention is paid to the ways of eliciting sympathy to victims of those traumatic events: A “shaky” picture, dynamic montage etc., create the effect of eyewitness, allowing Greengrass to translate his stance on origins and consequences of this conflict.
