Статья посвящена проблеме визуализации литературного текста во французской книжной иллюстрации XVIII века. В статье содержится развернутое описание знаково-символических приемов визуальной интерпретации (комментирования) текста,приводится их классификация,анализируются функции. Статья написана на основе изучения оригинальных источников французской книжной гравюры XVIII века
