Abstract

The questions of literary text interpretation, which is determined by the character of interrelations between textual linguistic units and conceptual linguistic structures are dealt with. The most significant conceptual structure which plays an important role in modeling the story «The Heart of a Dog» is «a man is an animal/beast», the semantic structure of which is interrelated with the semantic structure of the key textual metaphor in the story. Two different variants of translation of the story are analyzed to verify the functional load of the key textual metaphor.
