Abstract

This article deals with an topical problem of difference of a meaning of a word in Turkic linguistics and finding out the correlation between notions of “meaning”, “usage”, “shade of a meaning”. As the word usage presents not a notion, but only a figurative representation, so consequently, it doesn't include the sense structure of a word and it shouldn't be included in normative common dictionaries. But in a number of cases the Tatar, Kazach dictionaries register them as definite notions. The shade of meaning is naturally formed differential characteristic in the word meaning, that's why it can't be taken into consideration when the sense borders of a word are defined in the dictionary. However, Turkic lexicographers encounter serious difficulties during the delimitation the meanings of words and their shades, particularly during the delimitation conditional meanings of words and their shades. On the one hand, different conditional meanings of a word are often defined as different shades of meaning, on the other hand, the shades of the one and the same meaning are represented as individual meanings. As the installation of borders between different meanings of a word, so the order of arranging these meanings in a dictionary article is one of the most important and difficult questions in Turkic lexicography.
