Abstract

The article presents results of a research on a nitrogenase activity (NA) in biological soil crusts dominated by Cyanoprokaryota in plain and mountain tundra ecosystems of European Arctic. The field measurements of daily NA were conducted in soil crusts with different dominant species from Stigonema, Nostoc, Scytonema genera. The dependence of the process on temperature was studied and on the basis of the correlation the daily NA values were counted as well as the values for nitrogen accumulation in different types of soil crust during vegetation period
