Abstract

The article analyzes the place and role of Yugoslavia in the American policy of containment of the USSR in the period from the declaration of the Truman Doctrine to the tragic death of J. Kennedy. The author reveals the main stages of the development of US-Yugoslav relations from the perspective of a confrontation between Washington and Moscow. Established the effect of the Truman Doctrine on the Yugoslav position in the Greek question, examined changes in United States policy in connection with the Soviet-Yugoslav conflict and evaluation of its impact on US foreign policy. Characterized US efforts to include Yugoslavia in the defensive system of the West, reveals the factors that influenced the process of preparation and the maintenance of the Balkan Pact. Described the dynamics of the Yugoslav rate of the United States in 1955-1963, assessed the new approaches of Kennedy administration to the use of the Yugoslav situation in containing the Soviet Union.

В статье анализируются место и роль Югославии в американской политике сдерживания СССР в период от провозглашения доктрины Г. Трумэна до трагической гибели Дж. Кеннеди. Автором выявлены основные этапы развития американо-югославских отношений в ракурсе конфронтации между Вашингтоном и Москвой. Определено влияние доктрины Трумэна на югославскую позицию по греческому вопросу, изучены изменение политики Соединённых Штатов в связи с советско-югославским конфликтом 1948 г. и оценка его последствий американским внешнеполитическим истеблишментом. Охарактеризованы усилия США по включению Югославии в оборонительную систему Запада, выявлены факторы, повлиявшие на процесс подготовки и на содержание Балканского пакта. Показана динамика югославского курса Соединённых Штатов в 1955-1963 гг., дана оценка новым подходам администрации Кеннеди по использованию югославской ситуации в сдерживании СССР.
