Abstract

The problems of nomination of Russian urbanonyms are considered. It is proved that as the result of act of nomination in language may appear new sign or any sign unit gets a new meaning. Both these processes give new image of the named object, which is fixed in individual consciousness and which becomes the property of collective consciousness of those who speak this language. In general urbanonyms are formed in three nomination principles: nomination of urban objects in its connection to the person (names-dedications), nomination of urban objects according to the features and qualities, nomination of urban objects according to the relation to other objects. The fragment of every system of proper names if you can take the place of the middle language speaker and take its anthropocentric aims, contains the similarity of systems of antroponyms and toponyms with deictic elements “this” “that”, “this one” “that one” “every” “other” “any” and with language units, characterizing the place of this subject among similar things “first”, “second”, “fifth” and etc. The mechanism of creation of onomastic units is actualized in the plane content and plane of expression of onomastic signs. On the basis of nomination of urbanonyms the differentiating oppositions are found, which are organizing centre of all urbanonymic system. The special place takes homonymy in the nomination of urbanonyms.
