Abstract

This article is devoted to philosophic basis of the understanding of space in late antiquity, in particular, Vitruvius’ treatises on architecture. The analysis of Vitruvius’s general ideas on theatre space and architectural principles leads to the conclusion that he created the said space as one whole Universe, following ancient Greek natural philosophers and Pithagoreians.
