Abstract

This article explores the attempt of a functional consideration of literary reminiscences and allusions in the novella of Ivan Turgenev “First love”. The author argues that the prose of the Russian classic has a variety of art reminescences with the texts of both contemporaries of the writer and of his predecessors. Ivan Turgenev’s concept of love is has its spiritual origins in the world of creativity of Alexander Pushkin. Ivan Turgenev, as his teacher, refers to the intellectual-nobleman, expressing the significant trends of the historical period. The author draws attention to the proximity of Ivan Turgenev’s stories to philosophical elegies by Vasily Zhukovsky, Fyodor Tyutchev, Afanasy Fet, etc. Frequency in love-philosophical story by Ivan Turgenev of the motif of recollection and acceptance of autobiographysm bring together “First Love” with the works by Nikolai Gogol. Furthermore, on Ivan Turgenev’s works what had a significant impact, were poetics and philosophy of Fyodor Tyutchev, who is the successor of Alexander Pushkin’s traditions in literature: the author studies and proves this statement relating the story of Ivan Turgenev and Fyodor Tyutchev’s poem, “The Predestination”, the author comes to the conclusion that the motif of love of slavery, which has first been performed in “The Predestination”, is also in the story “First Love”. The considered by the author of the article the direct or indirect citations in the text of Ivan Turgenev’s story are a kind of mirrors of the feelings of the main characters, which explain their movement and development, therefore their use in the text is, along with the landscape, the way of creation of the “secret” of psychologism. Literary reminiscences and allusions in the text by Ivan Turgenev is a kind of semiotic codes that explicits special Ivan Turgenev’s concept of love.
