Abstract

The present paper describes the translation of Zhukovsky's «Svetlana» into the English language. The attention is drawn to the perception of the ballad by the Irish translator, text transformations and employed images, which reveal that the ballad has been reverted to its German domain

Рассматривается перевод «Светланы» Жуковского на английский язык, выполненный ирландским переводчиком Джеймсом Манганом. Наша цель показать, как немецкая баллада, пропущенная через русскую национальную традицию, возвращается в европейский контекст
