Abstract

В статье представлена новая версия ответа на вопрос о причинах феноменального успеха книги путевых заметок «Россия в 1839 году» А. де Кюстина, французского малоизвестного писателя, которая сразу после выхода приобрела огромную популярность в Европе, и до сих пор эта книга стоит в ряду наиболее востребованных источников о России у западноевропейских читателей.

The article presents a new version of the answer to the question about the reasons for the phenomenal success of the book travel notes “Russia in 1839” A. de Custine, French second-rate writer, which immediately exit gained enormous popularity in Europe, and still this book is among the most popular sources about Russia among Western readers.
